Electrical/Process Control Engineer

This position will take responsibility to learn the engineering processes of the Simsboro, LA Oriented Strand Board (OSB) mill. This engineering role will lead the implementation of electrical engineering processes and champion best practices to meet customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include leading mill capital and major maintenance projects and maintaining engineering documentation. Ideally the candidate will have completed an internship in an industrial environment and have familiarity with control systems associated with mechanical & pneumatic conveying equipment, mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, pumps, compressors, industrial burners & emission control equipment. Process automation systems & process instrumentation design experience desired. Knowledge of high and medium voltage power transmission is a plus.
Key Functions:
Accountable for personal safety and for improving the safety of the facility including the safety of contractors working on the mill site. Incumbent will possess the ability to safely move about the plant including stairs, ladders and elevated platforms. Assist all plant departments and external suppliers to specify, design and develop improvements in the site processes and methods. Lead and/or support project task teams to achieve plant objectives in a safe and timely manner. Provide coaching and guidance to mill team members to support continuous improvement in our high performance culture. Lead and use capital processes (PACE) for developing and implementing mill capital projects. Interface with operations and maintenance to continuously improve mill operations. Serve as a liaison on systems implementation. Assist with Operator/Technician training & documentation maintenance. Provide troubleshooting support plant-wide. Provide electrical system design, standards, technical documentation and drawings. The position calls for the ability to work evenings and weekends to support systems as required.
BS Degree in electrical engineering or higher
Three years or more experience- will consider entry level high potential candidates
High level of problem solving, technical and analytical skills.
Ability to build relationships, project teams and engage resources.
Results driven team oriented personality.
Strong computer knowledge.
Proficient with excel, word, Powerpoint and AutoCad.
Excellent organization and planning skillset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Process control knowledge. (MODICON & Allen Bradley preferred)
The following skills are desired:
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
Ability to manage scope definition, estimating, planning, scheduling, detail design, procurement and commissioning.
Experience in working with teams in a team concept work system including conflict resolution.
Demonstrated safety leadership in design, execution and work practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage activities during the engineering phase of capital projects.
Industrial/manufacturing internship(s) preferred.
